Untitled 2024

Booth A 17

Our booth features a selection of new work from Jiha Moon, including sculpture alongside her latest explorations that incorporate ceramic elements with her paintings. We will present new mid- and large-scale mixed media paintings from James Benjamin Franklin. We are pleased to dedicate our booth to both of these contemporary Asian American mid-career artists.

James Benjamin Franklin

James Benjamin Franklin, a first-generation Filipino American, has brightly reimagined the conventions of painting. His works incorporate repurposed textiles such as carpets, towels, afghans, and bathroom mats, creating sensually layered rafts of visual and physical texture which serve as alternative canvases.

Jiha Moon

Jiha Moon’s work exemplifies bold painting practices with lush palettes and strong brush work. They both seek to establish a loud voice and vibrant appeal that transcends personal identity and geography. Moon began as a painter and gradually incorporated sculpture into her process. She is at the leading edge of what is cool and what is currently resonating in East Asian and American popular cultures, constantly experimenting and questioning the culture(s).
